Digital Printing vs. Offset Printing – Part II

As we had discussed in our previous blog, we have given you an introduction to digital printing as well as explored the basic differences between digital vs. offset printing. In this article, let’s take a look at the different aspects of Digital Printing.

About Digital Printing

In digital printing, an image is sent directly to the printer using digital files such as PDFs and those from other graphics software. This eliminates the need for a printing plate, which is used in offset printing, which can save money and time. Modern printing methods like laser and ink-jet printing, multi-function peripheral are known as digital printing.

Speed 

Digital printing is a simpler process compared to offset. Without the need for plates, mixing inks etc. the final print can be delivered faster.

Waterless

There are lots of positive environmental factors like no pre-press stages, plates or photo chemicals which mean less waste. Printing can use a lot of water but digital presses are now waterless saving thousands of liters of water per year.

Laser Technology

One of the main technologies being used by printers to drive digital production is digital electro photographic i.e. laser printing. This is used by the dry toner. With this printing, high print quality that can be achieved and it is the ideal companion for printing personalized marketing brochures, sales folders, invitations, business cards, direct mail, presentations etc.
